Back in 1950, our first ad
appeared in "First Days", the magazine of the American First
Day Cover Society. That ad featured first day covers of
Western Europe. We still have a fairly nice stock of post-
WWII fdc's and commercially used covers as well as mint
stamps from Germany and DDR.
In 1951 we were there when
the United Nations opened its New York headquarters. Since
then we have specialized in United Nations philately. In
1969 we were there in Geneva when the UN issued its first
stamps in Swiss denominations. We were in Vienna in 1979
when the first UN-Vienna stamps were issued.
As a result, we now have what
I believe is the world's most comprehensive stock of United
Nations items. We also have the knowledge that is required
to help you build an award winning
collection.
In 1963 we opened a retail
stamp store at 43rd Street and 2nd Avenue in New York City.
The store soon became a gathering place for UN collectors
from around the world. In 1968 we published the first
comprehensive catalog on United Nations philately.
From 1955 to 1969, as members
of the American Stamp Dealers Association (ASDA), we
attended the major philatelic shows in New York. This gave
us the opportunity to meet more collectors.
Since 1974, we have conducted
business by mail order. I must say that the retail store was
more enjoyable.
There was daily interaction
with collectors, but strictly mail order gives us a little
more freedom. There are no fixed hours. The doors don't have
to be open at 9am and shut at 6 or 7pm. Although usually we
are at work by
7 or 8am and work till 5 or
6pm - we can come in late or close up shop if we are
required to.
"A.Terins" - my Dad - the "A"
is for Arnolds - at age 86 decided to go into
semi-retirement.
I, John Terins, will
continued to work with our United Nations collectors and
with foreign mint stamp collectors.
My regular office hours will
be 8am - 6pm - but thanks to modern technology such as call
forwarding - you can contact me almost
anytime.
Hi to all of our store
customers, our mail order customers and our e-business
customers.
Our goal are still the same -
price items fairly so that collectors can buy with
confidence.
